About Mama On Call

Mama On Call was created from lived experience.

From years of supporting women as a nurse and midwife. From witnessing what happens when women are medically cleared, but emotionally unsupported. And from my own journey through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood without consistent support.

I have two children.

With both pregnancies, I did not have the support of a partner. No one to attend antenatal appointments with me. No one to walk beside me consistently during pregnancy or after birth.

With my first child, my mother was my main support until she passed away when my daughter was two years old. After that, I did my best with limited support from my stepfather while juggling work, childcare arrangements, and constant uncertainty about who would care for my child while I provided for us.

With my second child, I had even less support. No mother. No consistent partner. Mostly me. After giving birth, I experienced a period where I felt deeply overwhelmed and anxious. There were moments when lack of sleep and emotional exhaustion made me feel like something was seriously wrong. I now recognise that I was likely experiencing postpartum depression.

I know what it feels like to carry motherhood alone. I know what it feels like to be strong because you have no other choice. I know how heavy pregnancy and postpartum can be when support is missing.

That reality is the foundation of Mama On Call.

Why Mama On Call Exists

Many women enter pregnancy and postpartum with very little real preparation.

They attend appointments.
They receive information.
But they are often left without guidance, reassurance, or consistent emotional support.

Mama On Call exists to bridge that gap.

To provide structured education, preparation, and non-clinical support so women and families feel informed, supported, and less alone during:

  • Preconception

  • Pregnancy

  • Birth preparation

This is not medical treatment.
This is not diagnosis.

This is practical maternal education and emotional support.
